Head of IT Development - Herts - £70,000 - £90,000

My client is a leading Financial Services organisation, they are currently looking to recruit a Head of IT Development. This is a very important role both strategically and operationally and provides the opportunity to work on exciting and demanding projects working in relationship with many of the major banks and insurance companies in the UK

Your role will be to manage the IT Development Team which incorporates the Web, Dbase, Testing and Project Office Units. You will be responsible for ensuring that IT developments are effectively managed and controlled to ensure that IT services are efficiently developed, fit for purpose, delivered on time and provide value for money.

THE JOB
* Develop, gain executive agreement and maintain a strategic plan for all technology applications including development methodologies and standards

* Be the programme Director of all IT development projects

* Accountable for the entire development process from identifying business requirements through to testing and deployment of new functions

* Maintain and improve project methodology standards

* Challenge and provide system development analysis direction to developers to ensure systems are designed and developed in the most efficient and scaleable way


SKILLS
* Extensive experience of managing an IT Development team utilising multiple development technologies

* Experience of developing an IT strategy to ensure systems are scaleable and can assist the business maintain a leading edge service proposition

* Experience of working within the Financial Services Industry preferably with knowledge of Individual Life Protection and Investment Products

* Experience of working with PRINCE or other recognised project management methodologies

* Proven people management experience, particularly as Programme Manager/Director resposible for multiple projects with values in excess of £1m

* Experience of dealing with clients in a consulting or customer service capacity
